• The foreign language preparatory program is optional.

• The standard duration of the foreign language preparatory program is one academic year.

• Students who wish to receive optional foreign language preparatory education must indicate during registration that they wish to attend the foreign language preparatory program. If the number of students wishing to attend the preparatory program exceeds the quota specified for that academic year, students are admitted in accordance with the principles determined by the University Senate.

• Students who meet any of the following conditions may, upon request, be exempted from English I (course code 1311x1009) and English II (course code 1311x2010):

i. Students who take and successfully pass the Exemption Examination for Compulsory Foreign Language Courses administered by the School of Foreign Languages at the beginning of each academic year,

ii. Students who are exempt from or have successfully completed the foreign language preparatory program,

iii. Students who have obtained at least one of the minimum scores specified in Table 3 of the Kütahya Dumlupınar University Directive on Exemption from Compulsory Foreign Language Courses in national or international foreign language examinations administered outside the University and recognized as valid by the Council of Higher Education.

• Internships are compulsory in the Department of Civil Engineering and consist of a total of 60 working days.

• Students in the Department of Civil Engineering complete three types of internships in sequence. Internship I consists of 20 working days and is completed during the first summer vacation; Internship II consists of 20 working days and is completed during the second summer vacation; and Internship III consists of 20 working days and is completed during the third summer vacation. The subjects of these internship types are specified in the appendix to the "Department of Civil Engineering Internship Directive."

• Internships may be undertaken at private or public institutions and organizations in Türkiye or abroad, provided that the placement is approved by the Department Internship Committee.

• Matters concerning internships to be undertaken during semester breaks are determined by the Department Internship Committee. However, if a student is not registered for any courses during the fall or spring semester, the student may undertake an internship during that semester with the approval of the Department Internship Committee. For summer internships, the internship start date is the first working day following the end of the resit examinations specified in the academic calendar.

• Before applying for an internship, students are required to complete 16 hours of "Occupational Safety Training." The certificate is valid for 12 months and the training must be renewed each year.

There are no specific requirements regarding this matter in the Department of Civil Engineering.

Students are not charged any fees for any item covered under this section. All expenses are covered by the University. Materials used in the laboratories are provided to students by the University.
