What is the Mevlana Exchange Program?

The Mevlana Exchange Program is a program that enables the exchange of students and academic staff between higher education institutions in Türkiye and higher education institutions abroad. With the Regulation published in the Official Gazette No. 28034 dated August 23, 2011, student and academic staff exchanges between higher education institutions in Türkiye and institutions abroad became possible.

Unlike other exchange programs, mobility within the Mevlana Exchange Program covers higher education institutions throughout the world without any geographical restrictions.

Students who wish to participate in the exchange program may benefit from the program for a minimum of one and a maximum of two semesters of study. Academic staff may participate in the program to teach at higher education institutions around the world for a minimum of one week and a maximum of three months. Likewise, students and academic staff from all regions of the world may come to higher education institutions in Türkiye.

Who Can Participate in the Mevlana Exchange Program?

Within the scope of the Mevlana Exchange Program, students enrolled in formal education programs at associate, undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels at higher education institutions in Türkiye that have signed a Mevlana Exchange Program Protocol may participate in student exchanges.

In addition, all academic staff employed at higher education institutions in Türkiye or abroad that have signed a Mevlana Exchange Program Protocol may participate in the Mevlana Exchange Program.

The academic activities carried out by academic staff within the scope of mobility must total at least six hours per week. Teaching activities are taken as the basis when calculating the number of hours of academic activities. If teaching hours do not reach six hours per week, academic activities such as seminars, panels, or conferences may also be included. Academic staff mobility plans that do not include teaching activities cannot be considered or accepted within the scope of the Mevlana Exchange Program.
